Our Pillar Framework - Building an Archive, Not a Feed
In a standard social group, your photo appears for a day and then disappears down the feed, lost forever. We are building something different. We are building a searchable, permanent library of Essex County nature.
To achieve this, we don’t just “post” photos; we file them. Our community uses a unique 3-Level System to ensure your art has a permanent address.
How The 3 Step System Works and Why it Matters.
When you share a photo of a North American Robin, you become the archivist. Follow this path to make sure your work is seen and saved.
Step 1: Pick Your Pillar The Broad Category – Pillar 1 – Wildlife Photos.
Step 2: Pick Your Space The Specific Room – The Space – Feathers And Flights.
Step 3: Pick Your Topic. The Specific Subject Filter – The Topic – Select the Topic: Songbirds –Robins are Songbirds.
Why does this matter? It ensures that six months from now, when a new member wants to see every ‘Robin’ spotted in the county, they can click the Songbird filter and find your image instantly. Don’t let your art get lost in the scroll—tag it to make it timeless.
SEO and Storytelling: Tell the Story and Be Found
A photo without a story is just an image. A photo with a story is a memory.
We are building a community that is searchable on the World Wide Web. Our site uses advanced SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to ensure your work can be found by people searching for nature in Essex County. Google cannot “see” your photo the way we do; it reads your words. If you title your post “Took these today” or “Monday Morning,” your photo becomes invisible to the outside world.
The Formula for a Perfect Post
1. The Title (For the Search Engine)
Your title is the headline. It tells the internet exactly what is in the frame.
Avoid: “My morning walk”, “Check this out”, or “IMG_4588”
Do: “Male Cardinal in the Snow at Ojibway Park”
Why: When someone searches “Cardinals in Windsor,” your photo will actually show up!
2. The Story (For the Community)
This is the “Why.” Don’t just dump the photo; tell us about the experience.
The Context: Was it freezing cold? Did you wait two hours?
The Technical: What settings did you use? (ISO, Shutter, Aperture).
The Emotion: Why did you stop to take this specific picture?
Transforming a “Social Post” into an “Archive Entry”
| The “Social Media” Way | The “ECNP Archive” Way |
| Title: “Nice morning.” | Title: “Bald Eagle Fledgling at Holiday Beach Migration Observatory” |
| Description: “Saw this guy today.” | Description: “I’ve been tracking this nest for weeks. Finally caught the fledgling testing its wings this morning! The light was harsh, so I underexposed to save the highlights. Shot at 1/2000sec to freeze the motion.” |
| Result: Ignored by Google. | Result: Found by researchers, birders, and locals searching for Eagles. |
💡 SEO Tip: Pretend you are describing your photo to someone on the phone. Include the Subject and Location in your title so Google can find you!
SEO Tip: Hashtags (#) do help with SEO in an ECNP post. They serve as "live keywords" or "social signals" that external search engines understand and categorise your pos
